To solve the disease crisis in aquaculture
Disease is taking its toll on both food production and economic losses.
Demand for seafood has surged to more than double what it was 50 years ago, and is on the rise.
By 2030, demand is expected to exceed 260 million tons, and more than 60% of this is expected to come from aquaculture, the farming of fish and shrimp.
However, the industry faces strong head winds in terms of new and emerging diseases, which results in reduction in stocking, and has knock-on effects in terms of job loss, income loss, and lower food production.
