The problem

Mortality events are on the rise.

Aquaculture struggles with disease and early mortality events that are not caused by bacteria, and hence not treatable with antibiotics.

EHP, a microspordian parasite, and virus-caused White Spot are two such notorious and feared vectors. Sea lice are another parasite, which alone is responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars of losses annually.

These adverse events are driving the industry into unsustainability, which means we're putting more resources in than we are getting out, exerting tremendous pressure on wild fisheries and the ocean, and leaving the future of food security very much in question.
